Engaging the Senses - a creative arts retreat
Length : 4 nights / 5 days
Date : July 29-Aug 2, 2026
Retreat type: Creative Play, Felting, Sound
Through hands-on making with natural fibers, forest bathing, sound, and shared daily rhythm, guests are invited into a slower, embodied relationship with creativity shaped by land and season.
Among the beauty and quiet of the forest, you will experience a grounding retreat lead by coach/artist Natalie Davis and fiber artist Maura Ambrose. The Maine Sensory Retreat is a transformative time to connect back to our five senses .
creative play, rooted in land & craft
We will relax, go slow, and create space for one another. You will share chef-prepared meals and stories in an intimate farm setting. Over the course of 4 nights and 5 days, you will exhale and unwind fully.
Enjoy chilly nights and mornings in the middle of Maine summer, followed by afternoon sunshine and bright skies. After walks in the forest or resting at the pond, you will warm yourself with evening fires, good conversation, and time in the wood-fired sauna.
We’ve designed this retreat to truly engage all your senses and refill your cup.

Maura Ambrose’s work returns to the slower wisdom of traditional craft. Maura is a quilter and natural dye artist based in Bastrop, Texas and the creative force behind Folk Fibers. Her work turns toward the slower wisdom of traditional craft, drawing on practices passed down through generations and guided by material awareness and care for process. She creates textiles using natural dyes and historical hand-quilting techniques that move beyond heirloom bedding into the realm of visual art.
Natalie Davis is an intuitive coach and creative facilitator with a background in design and embodied creative practice. Her work invites people to reconnect with their creative instincts, inner rhythm, and sense of meaning through curiosity, presence, and hands-on exploration.
Natalie Davis
“Choosing to work with Natalie has been one of the most meaningful investments I’ve made in myself in midlife. Natalie has supported me in reducing overwhelm and maintaining focus. Because of the work we’ve done together, I have more creative energy and have grown my confidence in setting healthy boundaries with my work and in my relationships. Natalie is kind and electric!”

Melissa seemingly can be multiple places at once. Perhaps it’s a house secret and she truly is corporeal in multiple places. Melissa anticipates every guests needs. She’s truly an extension of this home and land. Much like Pete’s meals, Melissa makes you feel so comfortable, like maybe you’ve been to casa portal before. I didn’t want to leave CP.
— Molly Casa Portal Participant “Maura’s workshop shifted how I relate to making. There’s a steadiness to the way she teaches—rooted in tradition but open and intuitive—that helped me slow down and trust my hands again. I left with new skills, but more importantly, a deeper sense of connection to the process.”
