Casa Portal is a homestead retreat center on 100-acres of private woodland in midcoast Maine. It is a place for people who feel the pull to slow down but may not know exactly what kind of retreat they’re looking for — or whether they “belong” in retreat spaces at all.

Many guests come to Casa Portal at moments of transition: creative shifts, personal change, burnout, curiosity, or the quiet sense that something needs space to breathe.

This is a place designed for that pause.

Built for Possibility

Retreats at Casa Portal are intentionally designed around rhythm, not rigid schedules.

Guest experiences include, time in the forest and on the land, shared meals prepared with care, optional guided experiences, depending on the retreat, long stretches of unstructured time for rest, reflection, or wandering.
There is no expectation to “do” the retreat a certain way. Rest is not something you earn here — it’s built into the experience. Doing nothing is the goal.

Casa Portal sits on over one hundred acres of meadows, woods, and pasture in Maine’s northern landscape.

The land includes walking trails, gardens, swimming pond, open fields, forest edges, and a resident flock of sheep.

The farmhouse itself is designed for shared living — a place where people gather naturally in kitchens, porches, and quiet corners, and where community forms without effort.

Casa Portal is also a place for facilitators who want to host retreats in a grounded, intimate setting. The space is best suited for hosts working with small groups, who value nature and community.

Casa Portal is not about retreating from life — it’s about creating space to meet it more honestly.
Whether you arrive as a guest or a host, the invitation is the same: to slow down, listen more closely, and experience what happens when time is allowed to open.
