frequently asked questions
how do we inquire about availability and confirm a reservation?
Please email Melissa at casaportalretreats@gmail.com or call 207-323-3016 with your group’s preferred dates, number of guests, and the vision of the event. We are currently taking reservations for the 2025 Season.
Our guest house accommodates a maximum of 10 guests, with an additional 2 cabins that accommodate a maximum of 4 guests. There is a booking minimum of 6 guests, and a three-night stay.
A non-refundable reservation deposit of 20% of the stay’s cost is due within 14 days of Casa Portal confirming your booking request.
What are the accommodations?
There are 5 farmhouse bedrooms that accommodate up to 2 guests per room, with 4 shared bathrooms. The rooms have queen, full, & twin size beds.
There are 2 cabins available to truly unplug in. There is the lakeside cabin and the Meadow Cabin. There is no electricity, so battery powered lighting is provided, along with propane heat, and daily water service. Showers are located in the main guest house for use.
The house includes a screened porch, studio space, living rooms, dining areas, library, sunroom, and kitchen. There is no AC. Wi-fi is provided by Starlink and there are no TVs. We have heat and wood burning stoves throughout the house for the fall/winter months.
what is your rental policy?
Casa Portal is open seasonally from June-October for private groups to host retreats, workshops, family & friends gatherings, weddings, and private events.

Special requests for a smaller group size and 2 days retals will be handled on a case-by-case basis and is dependent on availability. Discounts are available for extended stays over 5 nights.

For additional fees, Casa Portal can book local practitioners for Group Meal packages, Yoga, Massage, Sound healing, Forest Bathing, and Art & Craft Workshops
are meals included?
Meals are not included but meal packages and private chef dining experiences are available upon request. All rentals include non-alcoholic drinks and snacks. If you would like to provide your own cook there is an additional fee.
Do you have a studio space for movement and workshops?
.The screened porch is available for movement and workshops. It overlooks the sheep pastures. It is for summer/fall season use only. It can hold 25 people.
There is a living room studio located inside the main house. It is an all seasons studio and holds 12 people.
Equipment is provided for all spaces.
where is rolling meadows retreats?
Casa Portal is located on the the farm property that was formerly known as Rolling Meadows. Surya from Rolling Meadows Retreats will still be holding retreats at Casa Portal, as well as other retreats during the year at the wonderful Willow Retreat Center in VT. Please check out both websites for events and information.
what’s the best way to get there?
If you are driving, the property is located 2o minutes from Belfast, Maine; 40 minutes from Camden, Maine; two hours from Portland, Maine; three hours from Boston; five hours from Montreal; and seven hours from New York City.
You can fly into the International airports in Portland or Boston, or only 30 minutes away from our property to the airport in Bangor, Maine. Rental cars and local car service is available at all airports. We have on-site parking.
what’s the area like?
The property is located on a dead end rural road in Jackson, Maine on the Bramble & Bramble Farm. Rolling hills, meadows, and farms surround us. It’s the perfect picture of Maine living. We are secluded enough you feel like you have your own private world, but close enough to town for all that local Maine coastal towns have to offer.
What types of wildlife should we expect?
Sometimes we have deer, foxes, turkeys, and porcupines roaming around. We also have a flock of 20 sheep, our resident dog Shari, and some neighborhood cats show up from time to time. It is Maine, and there are deer ticks. We encourage people to bring clothes and spray and to be diligent when walking our fields and trails. If you forget something for protection we have you covered.
What activities are nearby?
Being so close to the famed coastal Maine trail, you can visit any of the seaside towns close to us, Belfast, Freedom, Camden, Bar Harbor, Portland, and Acadia National. There are many places to rent boats, ride bikes, kayak, hike, visit local farmers markets, festivals, shops and restaurants. These are all easy day trips from the property.
